Weston Way

A rear extension, outbuilding and refurbishment of a ground-floor flat at Weston Way, with planning and structural work addressing the existing building’s condition.
Project overview

The Project

The client bought a ground-floor Victorian flat at Weston Way at auction and appointed AC Design Solution for a rear extension, separate outbuilding and refurbishment. The existing property had roof leaks and structural defects as well as an outdated internal layout.

The brief combined additional living space with repairs to the retained building. We developed an open-plan kitchen and living area at the rear, with the outbuilding providing separate utility space.

Architectural Design

The rear addition reorganised the living space around the garden, while the refurbishment addressed the interior and building services. The design retained existing features where possible while responding to the defects in the original building.

Engineering coordination

Structural Engineering

The appointment began with a structural assessment of the existing flat. Extension drawings were developed alongside the repair requirements so that the new construction and retained building could be considered together.
