Zaeem Chaudhary
Zaeem leads the design and technical teams at AC Design Solution, the practice he founded with Zubear in 2012.
Background
Zaeem began his career in law, completing the GDL and LPC with a particular interest in planning law, before moving into construction — the industry in which his father worked. He developed his experience on site, gaining a practical understanding of how buildings are assembled, how different trades interact and why technically correct drawings must also be clear, coordinated and buildable.
This construction experience now shapes his approach to design and regulatory compliance. Rather than treating the Approved Documents as a checklist, Zaeem applies each requirement to the specific building, site conditions, materials and construction sequence. His focus is not only on demonstrating compliance, but on developing practical details that can be understood and delivered correctly on site.
To strengthen his knowledge of building fabric, construction technology and building performance, Zaeem progressed into architectural technology and pursued the MCIAT pathway. This expanded his understanding of subjects including thermal performance, moisture control, airtightness, ventilation, fire safety and the interaction between architectural, structural and building-services systems.
Alongside his technical work, Zaeem has successfully handled planning appeals and secured consent for complex backland developments, including cases where the principle of development had to be established. He has worked alongside planning consultancies including WSP and Savills and has supported applications across several London boroughs. His experience includes working with Regal Homes on proposals for a boxing pavilion within a public park in Brent.
By combining legal knowledge, construction experience and architectural technology, Zaeem produces coordinated designs that respond to planning policy, satisfy regulatory requirements and remain practical to construct. His objective is straightforward: to design buildings that perform properly on paper, on site and throughout their use.
Much of the work sits in conservation areas and on listed buildings.
